So, in order to keep up with all of the stimuli around us, we create mental shortcuts that ostensibly make decision-making easier. Our brains can consciously process 40 pieces of information per second - while we unconsciously process 11 million pieces. Taking active steps toward dismantling our own internal biases will ultimately make for better, more strategic decision-making and a more equitable workplace.No matter how difficult it can be to admit, unconscious biases influence a vast majority of our decisions.
